BACKGROUND

In late 2018, Cox's relatively new CEO was charged with driving a massive business transformation that would modernize and sustain the Cox brand legacy for generations. But Cox's four divisions were hugely disconnected and rarely collaborated on any initiatives.

Experience Willow was challenged with how best to ignite an internal culture and employee experience transformation that would impact 55,000 workers across the four separate business divisions.

CHALLENGES

NEW LEADERSHIP: A relatively new CEO charged with driving a massive business transformation.

DISCONNECTED DIVISIONS: Four Chief People Officers with four separate HR organizations who rarely collaborated on any initiatives.

​NEW WAYS OF WORKING: Hundreds of employees would need to be engaged in ways of working and collaborating they were unfamiliar with.

SOLUTION

Experience Willow partnered closely with Cox to launch a change movement and new internal human-centered design lab called the Cox EXLab, short for the Cox Employee Experience Lab.

The entire initiative included: formulating an EXLab mission, vision and guiding principles; designing a 1500 sq ft, physical lab space; and developing and leading Agile Design training and coaching for all EXLab leaders and project teams.

RESULTS

The Cox EXLab is three years in and still buzzing. Over 500 leaders have been trained and engaged; new people solutions include Empowered People model; I&D strategic plan; performance management redesign; and multiple policy and benefit updates.
